Updated : Apr 17, 2026

Fans of grand Bollywood romances will have to wait a little longer for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next major cinematic event. Love and War, featuring the powerhouse trio of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, has officially been rescheduled to release worldwide on January 21, 2027. Originally expected to hit theaters much earlier, the film is now perfectly positioned for a massive Republic Day weekend opening.

The decision to delay the release stems from the immense scale of the project, which reportedly includes complex aerial action sequences and an expansive emotional narrative. Bhansali is known for his meticulous attention to detail, and a project of this magnitude requires significant time for both filming and post-production. Additionally, this shift strategically avoids a crowded 2026 box office calendar, especially considering Ranbir Kapoor’s other massive upcoming release, Ramayana.

Despite the delays, the excitement surrounding Love and War continues to grow. The prospect of Ranbir and Alia reuniting under Bhansali's direction, joined by the versatile Vicky Kaushal, promises a visually stunning and emotionally intense experience. With strict security measures on set to prevent leaks, the filmmakers are clearly focused on preserving the magic for its highly anticipated theatrical debut.
